About the Massage Practitioner
Hello! My name is Norma. I have a Masters in Depth Psychology with Specialization in Somatic Studies, and I am also pursuing a PhD in the same field.
Helping the body heal has always been my greatest passion. At a very young age, my dream was to become a doctor and to travel the world helping people heal.
Life, however, had other plans for me. In 2007, I was introduced to aromatherapy.
Almost instantly after catching a whiff of an essential oil, my body--my whole being--felt completely transformed. In that moment, I knew that I wanted to learn more about how it worked and why it had such a quick and deep impact on my body and psyche. Soon after learning about aromatherapy, I was led to breathwork, and eventually to massage.
For the past decade, I have taken a very holistic approach to self-discovery and healing. In the process, I have found myself helping others.
I have read and studied the work of Louise Hay, Caroline Myss, Mario Martinez, and Peter Levine, to name a few. Their ability to connect possible emotional traumas and experiences and how they may manifest in the body has influenced how I approach bodywork. When working with clients, I take into account the psychological, emotional, spiritual, and physical state of the person.
Although I never completed my medical degree, I am so grateful that I am able to fulfill my passion of helping people heal by teaching, guiding them to heal themselves. I have several strengths, which include: desire, passion, empathy, intuition, determination, and receptivity. My academic goal is to deepen my knowledge and understanding of how working with the psyche can influence the body’s ability to heal. I love what I do and look forward to being of service.
